Dr. Myron Nevins (Boston, USA):

Founder of the Institute for Advanced Dental Studies in 1980, Dr. Nevins is the Editor of the International Journal of Periodontics & Restorative Dentistry and Associate Clinical Professor of Periodontology at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Nevins is a past President of the American Academy of Periodontology and a former Director and Chairman of the American Board of Periodontology where his contributions have been recognized with the Gold Medal and the Master Clinician Awards. Dr. Hector L. Sarmiento (Manhattan, NY USA)

Serving as Chairman and President of the Institute for Advanced Dental Studies, Dr. Sarmiento was awarded his DMD degree by the University of Rochester.  He is uniquely trained in both Maxillofacial Surgery and Periodontics. He is a professor in Maxillofacial Surgery Department of Trauma and Reconstructive unit at the Regional Hospital in Mexico and an Assistant Clinical Professor in Periodontics at the University of Pennsylvania. Along with his periodontal degree he also received his masters in Oral Biology by the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Sarmiento is an international and national lecturer and has published numerous articles in peer reviewed journals and textbooks. His research focus includes infected dental implants such as periimplantitis, sinus complications as well as bone biology.  Dr. Sarmiento maintains his prestigious private practice on the Upper East Side of Manhattan and serves as a Key Opinion Leader to multiple dental companies.

Dr. Joseph P. Fiorellini (Philadelphia, PA USA)

Dr. Fiorellini joined the University of Pennsylvania in 2005, serving as Chair of the Department and Director of the Postdoctoral Periodontics Program through June 2015. Prior to joining Penn Dental Medicine, Dr. Fiorellini was at Harvard School of Dental Medicine, where he served as Vice Chair and Associate Professor of the Department of Oral Medicine, Infection and Immunity; Head of the Division of Periodontology; and Program Director of Periodontology. Throughout his tenure at Harvard, Dr. Fiorellini also maintained a private practice in periodontics and implant dentistry. His areas of research include the relationship of genetics and periodontal disease and studies related to periodontal regeneration and implantology. Dr. Fiorellini currently serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of Periodontology, the International Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Implants and the International Journal of Periodontics and Restorative Dentistry. Dr. Roberto Abundo (Turin, Italy)

Dr. Roberto Abundo served as an Adjunct Professor from 1994 to 2005 at the University of Turin (Italy) in the Department of Oral Surgery and also at the University of Pennsylvania, Department of Periodontics during 2006 to 2016. He currently teaches in the Masters program in Periodontology at the Universities of Turin and Rome. Dr. Abundo was awarded in 2000 the H.M.Goldman prize for clinical research in Periodontology by the SIdP (Italian Society of Periodontology), and also in 2010 by the EAO (European Academy for Osseointegration) for the European clinical research prize in Implantology. He is an Active Member of SIdP and IAO (Italian Academy of Osseointegration) and Honorary Member of the Romanian Society of Stomatology.

He has authored in several publications on peer-reviewed journals (International Journal of Periodontics & Restorative Dentistry, Journal of Periodontology, Journal of Clinical Periodontology, International Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Implants, European Journal of Oral Implantology, Journal of Cranio-Facial Surgery, American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, Orthodontics and Craniofacial Research and others) and has co-authored together with Dr. Giuseppe Corrente on multiple textbooks.

He currently maintains his private practice (SICOR) in Turin (Italy), which is limited to Periodontics and Implant Surgery, a multidisciplinary institute. He is the Scientific Director of DENTALMEDTV, a web tv focused on education in dentistry and is a Professor at the Institute for Advanced Dental Studies.

 

Dr. Carlos Parra (Dallas, Texas USA)

Dr. Carlos Parra graduated from dental school at Universitat Internacional de Catalunya (UIC), Barcelona, Spain. Post graduating he served as pre-doctoral clinical instructor at UIC. During that period, he was also involved in research relating oropharyngeal dysphagia and oral hygiene. He then continued his studies for a Certificate in Periodontics at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, Boston, Massachusetts.
In November of 2015 he became a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Periodontics at Texas A&M College of Dentistry, Dallas, Texas.
Dr. Parra received the Leslie M. Salkin Award for the highest-scoring candidate on the 2016 American Board of Periodontology (ABP) Oral Examination.
Dr. Parra has recently been appointed Assistant Program Director of the Department of Periodontolgy, at Texas A&M University. Dr. Parra is a nationally and internationally lecturer. His main areas of interest are soft tissue enhancement and dental implants.

Dr. Stefano Lombardo (Turin, Italy)

Stefano Lombardo, DDS, received a diploma as dental technician in 1992 and his dental degree with honors from the University of Turin, Italy, in 1997.

He served as Adjunct Professor at the University of Turin for ten years and Genoa for three years, in the disciplines of Restorative Dentistry and Fixed Prosthesis. Author of publications in Italian and International journals, he also lectures in several courses and congresses. He is a co-author of several italian textbooks on Prosthetic Rehabilitation and Clinical Dental Medicine.

Dr. Scott Froum (Manhattan, NY USA)

Scott Froum is a board certified periodontist who received his BA from Amherst College in Amherst, MA with a major in biology. He received his DDS from the State University of New York Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine where he graduated with honors.  He continued his dental training in the post graduate periodontal department at the State University of New York Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine and received his periodontal certificate. He currently is a clinical assistant professor at the State University of New York- Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine in the Department of Periodontics. He is chief editor of the online journal Perio-Implant Advisory. He is on the editorial board for the Academy of Osseointegration Newsletter.He maintains a private practice in New York City, NY.
